Lieutenant Bertram F Horwood MC

Bertram Frederick Horwood M.C. was the son of Arthur and Emily Horwood, of Haslemere, Surrey. He was commissioned and volunteered for Airborne forces.

Lieutenant Horwood successfully completed glider training and was posted to 12th (Airborne) Battalion, Devonshire Regiment, and took part in the Battle of the Bulge (Ardennes).

Lt Horwood was killed in action on 6 February 1945, aged 21, and is commemorated on the Groesbeek Memorial to the missing.
