Benjamin Sydney Hosegood was the son of Sydney and Annie Mary (Burgum) Hosegood, of Woolwich, London, he enlisted in the Royal Army Service Corps and volunteered for airborne forces.
Driver Hosegood successfully completed parachute training at RAF Ringway on course number 115 from 8 to 20 May 1944. His course report stated “Good performer, morale good at all times.” He was posted to 716 (Airborne) Light Composite Company, Royal Army Service Corps and took part in Operation Overlord (Normandy Landings).
Dvr Hosegood was killed in action on 6 June 1944, aged 20, and is commemorated on the Bayeux Memorial to the missing.
