Benjamin Harry Homer was the son of Samuel Thomas Homer and Maior Martha Homer; husband of Rose Emily Homer, of Bow, London.
Private Homer successfully completed his parachute training on 1 July 1944. It was noted that he was a "keen and enthusiastic worker, reached a high standard"
After this Pte Homer was posted to the Recce Training Centre before being transferred to 12th (Yorkshire) Parachute Battalion. The 12 Para Bn fought during the winter 1944-5 in the Ardennes during the Battle of the Bulge. It jumped on the Rhine Crossings during Operation VARSITY and continued with the Division advance across Germany to the Baltic.
Private Homer was killed on the 8 April 1945 and is now buried in Hanover War Cemetery, Germany.
