Benjamin Charles Connolly was the son of John and Elizabeth Connolly, of Grange Town, Cardiff. He enlisted in the General Service Corps and volunteered for airborne forces.
Signalman Connolly successfully completed parachute training at RAF Ringway and was posted to 6th Airborne Division Signals, Royal Corps of Signals, and took part in Operation Overlord (Normandy).
Sigmn Connolly was killed in action on 9 June 1944, aged 19, and was buried at Ranville War Cemetery, Calvados, France.
