Arthur Pickering was the son of Arthur and Mary Pickering. He enlisted in the Royal Army Service Corps, and volunteered for Airborne forces.
Driver Pickering successfully completed parachute training on course number 116A at RAF Ringway from 15 to 21 May 1944 and was posted to 716 (Airborne) Light Composite Company, Royal Army Service Corps, and took part in Operation Varsity (Rhine Crossing).
Dvr Pickering was killed in action on 24 March 1945 and is commemorated on the Groesbeek Memorial to the missing.
