Arthur Henry Cox was the son of George and Florence Cox, of Forest Gate, Essex. He enlisted in the Royal Berkshire Regiment (Princess Charlotte of Wales’) and volunteered for Airborne forces.
Private Cox successfully completed his parachute training at RAF Kabrit, Egypt, on course number 48 from 15 to 28 June 1943 and was posted to 11th Battalion, The Parachute Regiment. He took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).
Pte Cox was killed in action on 25 September 1944, aged 23, and was given a field burial in the garden of the Ter Horst family, Benedendorpsweg, and was re-interred to Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery on 6 August 1945.
