Gunner Arthur F Lock

Arthur Frederick Lock was the son of Joseph and Beatrice Lock and the husband of Nora Lock, of Bunbury, Oxfordshire. He enlisted in the Royal Artillery and volunteered for Airborne forces.His brothers Libert H Lock and Wilfred V Lock also died in service.

Gunner Lock successfully completed glider training and was posted to B Troop, 1 Airlanding Anti-Tank Battery, Royal Artillery, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

Gnr Lock was mortally wounded manning an anti-tank gun at the Arnhem Rhine Bridge and died at an aid post, on 20/21 September 1944, aged 24. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Groesbeek Memorial to the missing.
