Andrew Graham, son of Andrew and Annie Graham and husband of Mary Graham, of Ecdefechan, Dumfriesshire, enlisted in the King’s Own Scottish Borderers and volunteered for airborne forces.
Sergeant Graham successfully completed his glider training and was posted to 7th (Airborne) Battalion, KOSB, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).
Sgt Graham was killed in action, aged 32, on 21 September 1944 and was given a field burial in an isolated mass grave in the garden of institute near Oosterbeek station, and was re-interred to Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery on 5 September 1945.
