Allen Glover was the son of Arthur and Sarah Ann Glover, of Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, he enlisted in the Royal Tank Regiment and volunteered for Airborne forces.
Corporal Glover successfully completed parachute training at RAF Ringway on course number 81 from 6 to 16 September 1943. His course report stated “Keen and efficient, well above average”. He was posted to HQ Company, 8th Battalion, The Parachute Regiment, and took part in Operation Overlord (Normandy).
Cpl Glover was killed in action on 25 August 1944, aged 25, and was given a field burial at Quetteville and was re-interred to Ranville War Cemetery, Calvados, France, on 25 October 1945.
