Allan Macaulay was a dental technician before joining the army, and was still in training when he joined the Parachute Regiment. He had been a member of the Army Pipe Band at 17, and wanted to join the Army when his training had finished.
He served with 15th Parachute Battalion and was highly regarded as a very popular young man within the Battalion. He died suddenly following a heart attack, aged just 21 years old.
