Alfred William Harrison enlisted at Liverpool into the General Service Corps and volunteered for airborne forces in July 1945.
Private Harrison undertook parachute training course B177 from 19 August to 7 September 1945 at RAF Ringway. The instructors’ report states ‘Harrison: Cheerful, persevering keen. Parachuted satisfactorily.’
He went to the Holding Battalion and was later posted to the 5 Platoon, B Company, the 2nd Parachute Battalion and served in Palestine from May 1946 to October 1947.
Pte Harrison demobbed in 1948.
