Private Alfred Charles Drew was the son of George Ernest Drew, and of Elsie Drew, of Woking, Surrey.
He served with the 2nd (Airborne) Battalion Ox and Bucks Light infantry and took part in the Normandy landings in June 1944. He was killed by enemy sniper fire while the Battalion was occupying positions in St Come.
Pte Drew died on 14 June 1944, aged 29 years, and is now buried at Ranville Cemetery, Normandy.
