Private Alexander William Cossey, son of George Edgar and Margaret Cossey, of Stokesby, Norfolk, served with 9th (Essex) Parachute Battalion. He took part in the Ardennes offensive in the winter of 1944-5.
Private Cossey died on 23 January 1945, aged 20 years old. He is now buried at Venray War Cemetery, Limburg in Holland.

"Alexander was killed on 23 January at 4.15pm during a grenade attack on Casquettenhof in Horn. He was a cook in the kitchen of C Coy. He was at first put in a temporary field grave in Heibloem. The reburied 13 August 1946 at The Venray War Cemetery, Limburg, Holland."
