Alexander (Alec) Edward Wright was the son of Edward and Gladys Wright and the husband of Angela Wright, of Norwich. Alexander left his parents, he was their only child. He enlisted in the Royal Norfolk Regiment, and volunteered for airborne forces.
Corporal Wright successfully completed his parachute training at RAF Ringway on course number 94/95, from 17 November to 3 December 1943, and was posted to A Company, 10th Battalion, The Parachute Regiment. He took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).
Cpl Wright was killed in action on 18 September 1944, age 21, and was given a field burial in the grounds of the Municipal Hospital at Arnhem and was re-interred to Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery on 1 November 1945.
Alec married Angela R Branston of Peterborough shortly before leaving for Arnhem. Angela was 18, Alec was 21.
Angela was later to remarry. Alec was and still is spoken of and remembered by his family.
