Albert Frederick Cobden, son of Mr. and Mrs. T. Cobden, of Wood Green, Middlesex and husband of Lily Cobden, of Wood Green, enlisted into the Devonshire Regiment.
He volunteered for airborne forces and served with the 12th (Airborne) Battalion The Devonshire Regiment and took part in the D-Day landings to Normandy on 5-6 June 1944.
Lance Sergeant Cobden died on 11 July 1944, aged 32 years old. He is now buried at Ranville War Cemetery, Normandy.
