Albert Douglas Walter was the son of Eli and Ada Walter and the husband of Ella Walter.
He enlisted in the Royal Berkshire Regiment and volunteered for airborne forces. Private Walter successfully completed his parachute training and was posted to B Company, 10th Battalion, The Parachute Regiment, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).
Pte Walter was killed in action on 19 September 1944, aged 30, and was given a field burial in a field near the Boschlust farm; north of Amsterdamseweg, east of Harderwijkerweg, Oosterbeek, and was reinterred to Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery on 7 September 1945.
