Major Robert Reid Maitland served with the 6th Airborne Divisional HQ Medical Services, Royal Army Medical Corps, and took part in the D-Day landings to Normandy on 5-6 June 1944.
Major Maitland died on 7 June 1944, aged 25 years old. He is now buried at Ranville Churchyard, near the War Cemetery, in Normandy.
