Harry Frank Williamson Parker served with 7th (Galloway) Battalion The King’s Own Scottish Borderers before it converted to the airborne role.
Private Parker attended Parachute Training course number 14 at RAF Ringway between 25 May and 4 June 1942. He was then posted to HQ Company, 3rd Parachute Battalion.
On 12 November 1942 the 3rd Parachute Battalion jumped into Bone, North Africa, on Operation Torch. It was on this operation that Pte Parker was awarded the Military Medal.
In 1943 Private Parker saw active service in Sicily and Italy, at Primosole Bridge and Taranto Harbour.
The Battalion returned to the UK in December, and in September 1944 dropped into Holland for Operation Market Garden.
Private Parker was taken Prison of War at Arnhem.
