Gordon H Morris from Swansea volunteered for airborne forces while serving with the Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders during World War II. He qualified as a military parachutist on Course 110 which ran at RAF Ringway from 3 April to 14 April 1944 and was posted to the 11th Parachute Battalion.
On Operation Market Garden Private Morris was wounded by a gunshot wound to the right leg. He was taken prisoner and sent to Stalag XIB in Fallingbostel.
Pte Morris served in Palestine before returning to the Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders in 1948.
