Czeslaw Gajewnik served in the Signals Company of 1st Polish Independent Parachute Brigade Group and served at the Battle of Arnhem.
He died on 26 September 1944, aged 26 years. His body was recovered from the River Lek near Zalmvisserij 'De Koekkoek' in the municipality of Tienhoven on 18 November 1944 and he was initiallty buried in the General Cemetery at Gorinchem. He is now buried at Oosterbeek War Cemetery, Arnhem.
