Major-General Peter Chiswell CB CBE

Peter Chiswell was commissioned in 1951 into The Devonshire Regiment and later transferred to The Parachute Regiment.

He served as Officer Commanding (OC) D (Patrol) Company 3 PARA during the Borneo campaign and went on to command 3 PARA from 1971-73.

He later commanded the Army in Northern Ireland and retired in 1985 as GOC Wales.

His son, James, also served in The Parachute Regiment and is currently serving in the Army.

Peter Chiswell (ex Devonshire Regiment) served with C Company 1 PARA, during the Cyprus Emergency in 1956, as 2 i/c with the rank of Captain. He suffered severe injuries to his back during the search of a village in the Troodos Mountains and was invalided back to the UK.
