Driver Gilbert Robert James Gwilliam was the son of Mr and Mrs Robert Thomas Gwilliam, and husband of Gwendoline Gwilliam. of Tirpil, Glamorgan. He served with 9 Field Company (Airborne), Royal Engineers and took part in the Battle of Arnhem, during Op Market Garden.
He died on 21 September 1944, aged 23 years old. He is now buried at Oosterbeek War Cemetery, Arnhem.
