Gunner David Edward Plummer, son of Idris and Priscilla Plummer, of The Graig, Pontypridd, Glamorgan, served with 1st Airlanding Light Regiment, Royal Artillery. He took part in the gliderborne insertion to the Battle of Arnhem, during Op Market Garden.
Late in the afternoon of 25 September 1944, Gunners Arthur Woods and David Plummer of C Troop were assigned to work as stretcher bearers. Taking wounded to the dressing station in the Horst House. As they carried the last man through the door, a snipers bullet struck David through the heart, killing him instantly. He was just 19 years old.
He is now buried at Oosterbeek War Cemetery, Arnhem.
