Alan Simpson volunteered for the airborne forces from The Leicester Regiment.
He was the son of Alfred and Anne Simpson of Riddlesden, Keightley, Yorkshire.
He was parachute jump trained at RAF Ringway on Course 40. This course ran from 1 to 12 December 1942. Allen was sadly KIA whilst serving in operations in Italy 1943. Alan was just 20 years old. He was laid to rest at the Bari War Cemetery in Italy.
Note he is wearing a Royal Welch cap badge.
