Private Samuel Higginbottom was the son of William and Lidia Higginbottom, and husband of Gladys Higginbottom, of Broadbottom, Cheshire. He served with 6th (Royal Welch) Parachute Battalion and took part in the invasion of Italy.
Private Higginbottom died at sea on 10 September 1943, aged 26 years old. He is now buried at Bari War Cemetery, Italy.
