Arthur Christopher Gadd, son of Ernest and Margaret Gadd, of Kingston-on-Thames, Surrey, enlisted into the Royal Armoured Corps.
He volunteered for airborne forces in 1943 and attended Parachute Jump Course 75 at Ringway in early August 1943, his reoprt comments: 'Spirited. Good team man. Good parachutist.’
Sergeant Gadd was posted to The 6th (Royal Welch) Parachute Battalion.
He served on Operation Manna in Greece and was killed on 2 January 1945, aged 21 years and is now buried at Phaleron War Cemetery, Greece.
