Albert Edward Dring, son of Oliver and Annie Dring, of Cardiff, enlisted into the Royal Army Ordnance Corps (RAOC).
He volunteered for airborne forces and qualified as a military parachutist on course 74, which ran at RAF Ringway from 23 July to 3 August 1943. He was posted to The 6th (Royal Welch) Parachute Battalion.
Private Dring served in Italy, the south of France and Greece.
On Operation Manna in Greece, he was killed on 8 December 1944, aged 21 years and is now buried at Phaleron War Cemetery, Greece.
