Frank Ernest Wilson volunteered for The Parachute Regiment and attended parachute training course number 118 at RAF Ringway between 29 May and 15 June 1944. His course report stated: 'very keen. Worked hard and reached a good standard'.
Private Wilson served with the 12th (Yorkshire) Battalion and took part in the D-Day landings to Normandy on 5-6 June 1944.
Pte Wilson died on 22 August 1944, aged 25 years old. He is now buried at Ranville War Cemetery, Normandy.
