Private Albert Leslie Williams, son of Albert E and Emma E Williams, of Torquay, Devon, served with 156 Parachute Battalion took part in the Arnhem action of Op Market Garden. He was captured and interred as a POW at Stalag IV-B in the Muhlberg / Elbe region of Germany.
On the 13th April 1945, along with his fellow 156th Battalion Paratrooper, Private Frederick William Rhodes, he attempted an escape during which both soldiers where shot and killed. Private Williams is now buried at Berlin 1939-1945 War Cemetery.
