George Vincent White was the son of Robert Henry and May White, of Greenford, Middlesex, he enlisted in the Middlesex Regiment and volunteered for airborne forces.
Private White successfully completed parachute training at RAF Ringway on course number 75, from 26 July to 6 August 1943. His course report stated “Confident, good jumper”. He was posted to HQ Company, 9th Battalion, the Parachute Regiment, and took part in Operation Overlord (Normandy).
Pte White was killed in action on 6 June 1944, aged 21, and was given a field burial at Le Bois de Villers and was re-interred to Ranville War Cemetery, Calvados, France, on 9 October 1945.
