George Arthur Taylor was born and lived in Birmingham. He enlisted in the Royal Warwickshire Regiment and volunteered for airborne forces.
Private Taylor successfully completed his parachute training on course number 59 at RAF Ringway from 5 to 16 April 1943. His course report stated "Jumping delayed by a slight injury but a satisfactory performance”. He was posted to R Company, 1st Battalion, The Parachute Regiment.
He took part in Operations in Italy and Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).
Pte Taylor was killed in action on 19 September 1944, aged 27, and was given a field burial in the Arnhem Communal Roman Catholic Cemetery, and was reinterred to Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery on 7 August 1945.
