Private Richard Thomas Scott was the son of Mr and Mrs Richard Thomas Scott, of Walsall, Staffordshire.
He initially enlisted with the Royal Artillery before transferring to Airborne service after completion of Parachute Course 77 in August 1943, and joined B Company, 8th (Midlands) Parachute Battalion. He took part in the D-Day landings to Normandy on 5-6 June 1944, during Op Overlord.
Private Scott died on 6 June 1944, aged just 18 years old. He is now buried at Banneville-la-Campagne War Cemetery, near Caen, Normandy.
