George Sidney Roberts volunteered for The Parachute Regiment from the Royal Armoured Corps and attended parachute training course number 68 at RAF Ringway between 14 and 27 June 1943. His course report stated: 'Satisfactory standard at end. Good man'.
Private Roberts served with the 7th Parachute Battalion and took part in the D-Day landings to Normandy on 5-6 June 1944.
Pte Roberts died on 11 June 1944, aged 23 years old. He is now buried at Ranville War Cemetery, Normandy.
