Ernest Norman Reynolds, son of Alfred and Dorothy Reynolds, of Dagenham, Essex, he enlisted in The Rifle Brigade and then volunteered for airborne forces.
Corporal Reynolds successfully completed his parachute training at RAF Ringway on course 77 from 9 to 18 August 1943, his course report stated “Very keen, should do well as stick leader”. He was posted to A Company, 7th Battalion Parachute Regiment, and took part in Operation Overlord (Normandy), the Ardennes and Operation Varsity (Rhine Crossing).
Cpl Reynolds was killed in action during Operation Varsity on 24 March 1945, aged 21, and is commemorated on the Groesbeek Memorial to the missing.
