Private Peter Henry David Pooley volunteered for The Parachute Regiment and attended parachute training course number 90 at RAF Ringway between 1 and 13 November 1943.
Pte Pooley served with the 12th (Yorkshire) Battalion and took part in the D-Day landings to Normandy on 5-6 June 1944.
Pte Pooley died on 6 June 1944, aged 19 years old. He is now buried at Ranville War Cemetery, Normandy.
