William Frederick Pegg was the son of William F. C. and Dorothy Pegg, of Willesden, Middlesex, he enlisted in the General Service Corps and volunteered for airborne forces.
Private Pegg successfully completed parachute training at RAF Ringway on course number 78 from 14 to 24 August 1943. His course report stated “Very reliable man”. He was posted to 7th Battalion, the Parachute Regiment, and took part in Operation Overlord (Normandy).
Pte Pegg was killed in action on 20 June 1944, age 19, and was buried in Ranville War Cemetery, Calvados, France.
