Private William Arthur Holmes was the son of John Ernest and Emily Holmes, and husband of Jessie Bruce Holmes, of Walton-on-Thames. He may have joined 1st Parachute Battalion from the General Service Corps.
Private Holmes died in the UK on 17 May 1945, aged 31 years old. He is now buried at Burvale Cemetery, Walton and Weybridge, Surrey.
