Sergeant John P Hetherington

Sergeant John Parker Hetherington, son of Frederick M and Elizabeth Herington, of Southwick, Sunderland, Co Durham, served with 3rd Parachute Battalion and received a Mention in Despatches during his military career. He took part in the North African campaign, during Op Torch.

Sergeant Hetherington died on 20 December 1942, aged 23 years old. He is now commemorated on the Memorial at Medjez-el-Bab War Cemetery, Tunisia.
