James H Guest, son of William and Lizzie (nee Bayley) Guest of Stoke on Trent enlisted with The Worcester Regiment before volunteering for the airborne forces.
He was parachute jump trained at RAF Ringway on Course 134, which ran between 16 September and 6 October 1944. His instructor noted this about his performance:
"Good morale, confident, tried hard, average parachutist"
After this training he became a member of The 9th Parachute Bn. He died of wounds on 30 April 1945 on operations crossing The Rhine.
James is laid to rest a 4A.0.2 Hamburg Cemetery, Germany.
