Frank Gregory the son of Frederick and Florance Gregory and nephew of Mrs J M E Poulter, of Aldershot, enlisted into the Hampshire Regiment, transferred to the Border Regiment and volunteered for airborne forces.
Private Gregory successfully completed his training at Kabrit, in the Suez Canal zone, on an early course between December 1942 and January 1943. He was posted to B Company, the 10th Parachute Battalion.
He took part in Operation Market Garden at Arnhem.
Pte Gregory was the number two on a Bren Gun team, he was captured and sent first to Stalag XIIA , and then moved to Stalag IVB. He died of diphtheria in the POW Hospital at Mühlberg/Elbe. He was originally buried in Neuburxdorf Village Cemetery and later reinterred in Heverlee War Cemetery, Vlams-Brabant, Belgium.
Pte Gregory died on 21 January 1945, aged 23.
