George Stewart Foulis, of Low Team, Gateshead, County Durham, he enlisted into the General Service Corps and then volunteered for airborne forces.
Private Foulis successfully completed his parachute training on course number 93 at RAF Ringway from 29 November to 13 December 1943. His course report stated that he was an excellent performer and has the right temperament. He was posted to 11th Battalion, The Parachute Regiment. He took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).
Pte Foulis was killed in action on 21 September 1944, aged 21. He has no known grave and is commemorated on Groesbeek Memorial.
