Private Patrick Fleming

18 Feb 1923 - 19 Feb 1945

Private Patrick Fleming, son of William and Emily Fleming, of Kendal, Westmorland, originally enlisted Royal Welch Fusiliers. He later transferred to 10th Battalion, The Green Howards which in turn, became the 12th (Yorkshire) Parachute Battalion.

Patrick was parachute jump trained at RAF Ringway on Course 89. This course ran between 28 October to 9 November 1943. The instructor noted this about Patrick's performance on this course "Will make a very good parachutist".

Patrick served in operations in Normandy and the Ardennes. 

Private Fleming died on 19 February 1945, the day after his birthday. He is now buried at Venray War Cemetery, Limburg.
