William Thomas Eadie, enlisted in the 10th Battalion The Royal Welch Fusiliers and stayed with them when they became 6th (Royal Welch) Parachute Battalion.
Private Eadie undertook parachute training on No 25 Training Course at RAF Ringway, which ran from 31 August to 8 September 1942.
He took part in Operation Torch, in North Africa and later in the amphibious landings in Italy in September 1943, on board a mine layer, HMS Abdiel. Unfortunately, HMS Abdiel struck a mine in Taranto Harbour causing significant casualties and loss of life, including Pte Eadie.
Pte Eadie died at sea on 10 September 1943. He is commemorated on the Cassino Memorial.
