Benjamin Dowie was the son of Benjamin and Maria Dowie of Belfast N. Ireland. He was a member of The Royal Irish Fusiliers, before volunteering for service with The Parachute Regiment.
Benjamin successfully passed his parachute jump instruction at RAF Ringway on course 45. This course ran between 4 and 13 January 1943. His instructors notes state Benjamin's performance was "Good". He was then posted to The 4th Parachute Bn, C Coy.
He served in operations in Italy before being KIA on Op dragoon 15 August 1944. He was just 20 years old.
He was laid to rest at Mazargues War Cem. 4.C.14
