Corporal Benjamin H Cope

Benjamin Harry Cope enlisted in the South Staffordshire Regiment and volunteered for airborne forces.

Corporal Cope successfully completed his parachute training at RAF Ringway, on course number 17 from 5 to 13 July 1942 and was posted to B Company, 3rd Battalion, The Parachute Regiment, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

Cpl Cope was killed in action on 17 September 1944, aged 19, and was given a field burial in a field west of Hartenstein Hotel, and was re-interred to Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery on 15 August 1945.
