Private Joseph Burke, foster-son of James Bergin, of Cabra, Dublin, in the Irish Republic, served with 10th Parachute Battalion. He took part in the Battle of Arnhem, during Op Market Garden.
Private Burke died on 18 September 1944, aged 23 years old. He is now commemorated on the Memorial at Groesbeek Canadian War Cemetery, near Nijmegen.
