Captain William Bowyer was originally from Buckinghamshire, the son of William Edward and Annie Elizabeth Bowyer, and husband of Dorothy Valentine Bowyer, of Yiewsley, Middlesex. He served with 2 Platoon, 'A' Company, 7th (Light Infantry) Parachute Battalion and took part in the Normandy campaign, during Op Overlord.
Captain Bowyer was killed during the first engagement with German forces on 6 June 1944, aged 27 years old. He is now buried at Benouville Churchyard, Normandy.
