Private John Edward Black, son of Alfred Edward and Jane Blackett Black, of St Anthony's, Newcastle-on-Tyne, served with 4th Parachute Battalion. He took part in the Italian campaign, during September 1943.
Private Black died on 20 September 1943, aged 21 years old. He is now buried at Bari War Cemetery, Italy.
