Corporal John Walter Bentley was the son of Thomas Cameron and Ada Mary Bentley, and the husband of Mabel Elsie Bentley, of Boxmoor, Hertfordshire. He served with 12th (Yorkshire) Parachute Battalion and took part in the Rhine Crossing, during Op Varsity.
Corporal Bentley died on 24 March 1945, aged 27 years old. He is now commemorated on the Memorial at Groesbeek Canadian War Cemetery, near Nijmegen.
