Private Rex A Harrison

23 Mar 1985

XVIth Lincoln and Leicester Coy., 4th Battalion (TAVR). During the two-week training camp to complete his Para recruitment and training Rex Harrison was killed by a car while crossing the road back to Browning Barracks, Aldershot, just after making a 'phone call to his wife.

An immediate whip-round by his hut-mates on hearing the tragic news resulted in a large amount of money being raised, which was later said to have been declined by his widow.

The funds raised was instead  used to purchase two bronze statues from the PRI shop to be awarded to future champion 4 PARA recruits on similar courses, the 'Rex Harrison Trophy'.
